Why Generic EAPs Fall Short

  • Crisis-only, not preventative. Most Employee Assistance Programs are built for a phone call after something has already gone wrong — not for the slow, quiet erosion that precedes it.
  • Faith-blind by design. A generalist counsellor who has never sat with the weight of spiritual leadership cannot offer the theological and pastoral literacy a Christian leader actually needs.
  • Low trust, low use. Leaders rarely call a nameless, secular hotline about a crisis of calling — so the "support" that exists on paper is quietly never used.
  • One dimensional. A single generic counselling session cannot also help a Principal navigate a board conflict, or a Camp Director rebuild a strategic plan.

Burnout Doesn't Announce Itself. It Erodes Quietly, Then All at Once.

The Principal who carries a staff room's morale. The Camp Executive Director who is responsible for the physical and spiritual safety of every child on site. The Head of Department mediating a parent complaint on a Friday afternoon before leading chapel on Monday morning. These leaders hold the emotional and spiritual weight of an entire community — often with no one to hand it to.

Left unsupported, that weight shows up as decision fatigue, quiet cynicism, and eventually the resignation letter no one saw coming. It is a major driver of the high staff and leadership turnover that quietly costs Christian schools and camps far more than any retainer ever could — in recruitment, lost momentum, and a destabilised culture.

And when these leaders do reach for help, secular Employee Assistance Programs were never built for them. They need care that understands both the psychological reality of burnout and the spiritual weight of a calling — support that is proactive, not merely reactive; and faith-aligned, not faith-neutral.

A Simple Path for Your Organisation

1

Onboard Your Leaders

Your school or camp signs the annual retainer and nominates its eligible leaders — Principals, Board Members, Heads of Department, Executive Directors, or Camp Managers. A short onboarding call matches each leader to their coach and psychologist.

2

Secure Confidential Session Access

Each leader receives direct, private booking access to their 10 coaching sessions and 3 psychology sessions. The organisation never sees session content — only confirmation that the retainer is being used.

3

Foster Long-Term Ministry Sustainability

Leaders build resilience across the full year, with a psychological safety net available whenever it's needed. The board or committee receives a simple annual utilisation summary and renews the retainer as a standing line item.

A Use-It-Or-Lose-It Annual Retainer

Each leader's 13 sessions are a professional development and care retainer for that year — they do not roll over, and unused sessions are not refunded. This is intentional: it is designed to be built into a leader's ordinary rhythm of care, not saved for a crisis that may never announce itself in time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really confidential? What does our board see?

Completely. Session content is never shared with the sponsoring school, camp, board, or committee under any circumstances. The organisation receives only a simple annual utilisation summary — for example, confirmation that a leader used 9 of their 13 sessions — never session notes, coaching detail, or anything discussed in session.

How do you integrate faith and psychology?

Our psychology sessions are delivered by a fully qualified Christian Psychologist — professionally qualified, and personally committed to a Christian worldview. Leaders can bring the fullness of their faith, calling, and doubts into the room without translation, while still receiving rigorous, evidence-based care.

How are sessions tracked and booked?

Each leader books directly and privately with their coach and psychologist. Sessions are logged against that leader's annual allocation of 10 coaching and 3 psychology sessions, and a simple usage summary is shared with your organisation's nominated contact for renewal and budgeting purposes only.

Who qualifies as a "leader" under this program?

Any senior leader carrying significant institutional or pastoral weight. For Christian schools, this typically includes Principals, Deputy Principals, Heads of Department, and Board Members. For Christian camps, this typically includes Executive Directors, Camp Managers, and senior Program or Operations Directors. Your organisation nominates its eligible leaders at the start of the retainer year.

What happens if a leader doesn't use all their sessions?

Sessions are part of an annual, use-it-or-lose-it retainer and do not roll over into the following year. We encourage leaders to build sessions into their regular rhythm of care — a monthly coaching catch-up, for example — rather than holding them in reserve for a crisis.

How is this different from a standard Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

A typical EAP is generalist, reactive, and faith-neutral — a small number of crisis-line counselling sessions with no ongoing relationship. The Leadership Sustainability Program is proactive as well as reactive, faith-integrated throughout, and blends an ongoing strategic coaching relationship with genuine psychological care from a fully qualified Christian Psychologist, delivered by providers who understand Christian school and camp leadership specifically.

Can a leader use all 10 sessions for coaching and none for psychology?

Yes. The 3 psychology sessions are entirely optional. If a leader never needs them, their coaching and pastoral care relationship continues uninterrupted — but the psychology allocation remains available all year, without a separate referral process, should the need arise.
